Ford has long been at the forefront of the automotive industry with regard to safety features. The Ford vehicles of today are safer to drive than ever before. Here are some of the most advanced safety and driver-assist features you’ll find as standard or available in modern Ford cars. You can visit your nearest Ford dealer any time to find out more.

Blind Spot Information System

Human drivers will always have a weakness when it comes to seeing behind our vehicles. Ford’s BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) goes a long way to mitigate the risk created by our blind spots. With continual rearward camera scanning, your car detects anything entering your blind spots and clearly alerts you.

Cross Traffic Alert

Likewise, Cross-Traffic Alert helps whenever you’re backing out of a drive or parking spot. It detects any approaching traffic and lets you know when to stop reversing. The Rear View Camera further helps with this, providing a crystal clear image on your dashboard of everything behind your car.

Pre-Collision Assist

Your car can also enhance your perception and reaction times when it comes to potential forward collisions. By scanning the road ahead, the system detects potential collisions with vehicles and even pedestrians. It can then give you an audible and visual warning. If you fail to react to the threat in time, Automatic Emergency Braking can even stop your car for you.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Your Ford can use Adaptive Cruise Control to take over the wheel on select stretches of the nation’s highways. By scanning lane markers and distances from other vehicles, your car keeps you safely in your lane and on track toward your destination, steering, braking, and accelerating as required to ensure a safe distance is kept from other cars.

Lane Keeping Aid

When activated, Lane Keeping Aid alerts you with a gentle vibration of your wheel should you accidentally start to wander into another lane. It can even provide a little extra torque to help you get back into the center of your lane. On top of this, Driver Alert lets you know when you keep repeating this mistake, indicating that you might be too tired to drive safely.

Auto High-Beam Headlamps

After dark, failing to dim high-beam headlamps can blind other drivers and cause a crash. With Auto High-Beam headlamps, your Ford detects oncoming cars and automatically dims your headlamps until the other vehicle has passed.
