2021 Ford Super Duty

The entry-level Super Duty is the XL. It has 17-inch steel wheels, manually-folding side mirrors, and black steel bumpers. A bump up from the base to the XLT gets you chrome bumpers, a chrome grille, and 18-inch alloy wheels, while another bump to the Lariat adds power-folding tow mirrors, upgraded 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, and heated side mirrors. The King Ranch adds LED lighting in the bed, remote tailgate release, and memory settings for the side mirrors.

The top two Super Duty trucks are the Platinum and Limited. These have quad-beam LED headlights, LED fog lights, and power-deployable running boards.

Ford offers the Super Duty with three different engines. The base is a 6.2-liter gas V-8 with 385 horsepower. A 7.3-liter gas V-8 is optional and good for 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. The most powerful engine in the Super Duty lineup is a 6.7-liter turbodiesel V-8. It puts out 475 horsepower and generates 1,050 pound-feet of torque.

Ford designed the Super Duty to work, and the strongest F-350 can tow up to 24,200 pounds with a conventional hitch and 37,000 with a gooseneck hitch, a fifth wheel, and the diesel engine. The F-250 can tow up to 18,000 pounds with a conventional hitch.

There's room for up to six in the larger Super Duty cabs. The spacious cabins are comfortable with luxury features in the higher trims. The base model has the basics, including vinyl floors and upholstery, and you'll get cloth upholstery in the XLT. Starting with the Lariat, you'll get leather upholstery and power-adjustable front seats, with massaging and ventilated front seats in the Platinum, along with a heated steering wheel. The Limited has upscale two-tone leather upholstery and a suede headliner.

The technology features in the Super Duty start with a 4.2-inch display screen in the XL, but you just need to bump up to the XLT to get an 8-inch touch screen and Ford's infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The XLT and up also have two USB-C ports and two 110-volt power outlets. An 11-speaker B&O stereo comes in the Lariat, and this trim also has two 12-volt outlets for the rear seat.

The base Super Duty comes with a rearview camera and stability control. All the rest of the models have the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of driver aids. This brings features such as pre-collision assist, automatic braking, a blind-spot alert, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beam headlights. The Super Duty can also come with a 360-degree view around the truck and a 180-degree forward view. A trailer backup assist feature is available to make maneuvering with a trailer safer and easier.
