Trim Levels
The Maverick is split into three trim levels, so it's easy to find one with the exterior features you enjoy the most. At the base level, the Maverick offers the XL trim, which is already packed with quite a few impressive features. You'll find LED headlights alongside stamped steel wheels and a black mesh grille. A locking tailgate and single-piece bed are also standard.
If you're looking for something more, the XLT trim may have the features for you. It boasts 17-inch painted aluminum wheels in addition to power mirrors and a power tailgate lock. It even offers four D-rings in the cargo bed and a storage cubby. The top trim is known as the Lariat, and it features body-colored side mirrors with integrated spotter mirrors that are especially helpful when towing. The rear window also gains power sliding functionality.
Engine
There are two engine options for the Maverick, and you decide which you choose based on whether or not you opt for the hybrid Maverick. The hybrid engine is a 2.5-liter Atkinson inline-four that's paired with a 94-kW battery pack. It boasts 191 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the standard gas engine is a 2-liter turbocharged inline-four with 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. The gas engine is the only one with the option for all-wheel drive.
Performance
Considering its size, the Maverick has impressive capability you may not want to miss out on. The base hybrid model already boasts a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds, but that's just the beginning. The turbocharged four-cylinder coupled with the Towing Package boosts towing capacity to 4,000 pounds. Additionally, you'll find a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds with this truck.
Interior
Because every Maverick model is a crew cab, there's plenty of room inside with four doors and plenty of legroom in the front and back. One of the more interesting aspects of the interior is its selection of extra storage areas. Cubbies and bins are located throughout the cabin, including under the rear seat, so you can always bring all the gear you need. Additionally, you'll find available dual-zone automatic climate control and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with onboard Wi-Fi even from the base model. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard too.
Safety Features
You can drive with peace of mind thanks to the numerous safety features integrated with the Maverick. Automated emergency braking is standard on all models, but you can also upgrade to enjoy features like lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist along with adaptive cruise control that will automatically slow your cruising speed if traffic is detected ahead.
