1. Superior National Forest

2. Kabetogama State Forest

Boasting plenty of lakes, rivers, and beautiful waterfalls, Kabetogama State Forest is another popular natural attraction that can be reached in a little under one hour by car from the Eveleth city center. Established in the 1930s, this place sits on the shores of Lake Vermilion and is a great place for boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and other water sports.

Kabetogama State Forest is located just under 60 miles north of the Eveleth city center and has something to offer for visitors of all ages. Some of the spots you should not miss while exploring this breathtaking state forest include the Junction Bay Falls and the Ash River campground. This nature reserve is also a popular spot among wildlife watchers, providing habitat to large populations of birds and mammals.

3. Split Rock Lighthouse

Located near the small town of Silver Bay, Split Rock Lighthouse is a historical monument completed in the early 1910s and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969. Standing on a sheer cliff on the shores of Lake Superior, this lighthouse was constructed after a series of storms led to the disappearance of several ships in the area. Nowadays, the place is a popular tourist attraction that can be reached in about one hour from downtown Eveleth.
