Are you looking for fun spring activities that don’t require a long drive? These are our three favorite ways to spend a spring day in Eveleth, MN.

1. US Hockey Hall of Fame

This museum is the perfect destination for hockey fans on a rainy spring day. You’ll be able to learn about all the members of the US Hockey Hall of Fame through exhibits, memorabilia, video clips, photos, and other historic artifacts. The museum also has a gift shop with tons of cool souvenirs.

The US Hockey Hall of Fame is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets cost $8 for adults, $7 for seniors older than 65 and teens (ages 13-17), and $6 for kids ages 6 to 12. Admission is free for younger children. The museum is located at 801 Hat Trick Avenue in Eveleth.

2. Virginia Market Square Farmers Market

June 15 marks the official start of the summer season at Virginia Market Square Farmers Market. It’s one of the best places to shop for local produce, meat, dairy, and handmade goods since vendors must produce what they sell within 50 miles of the market. Vendors include Bear River Farm, Alfred Smith’s Farm, C’s Gifts, Birch Botanicals, Beyond Nuts, Ethnic Creations, Eric’s Banana Bread Express, Fifth Degree Coffee Company, and many more.

The market runs every Thursday from 2:30 to 6 p.m. through October. You can even order online starting at 2:30 and pick up your food between 5 and 6 p.m. You’ll find the farmers’ market about 6 miles north of Eveleth in Virginia, MN. It’s located at Kline-Cuppoletti Park on Silver Lake at the intersection of South 9th Avenue West and Chestnut Street.

3. Mesabi Trail

You can bike or hike more than 150 miles of paved trail that traverses the entire Northeast part of the state. The Mesabi Trail will eventually span 165 miles, and it’s one of the longest paved trails in the country. You’ll find camping and lodging available throughout the trail, as well as restaurants, points of interest, and attractions.

You can access the Mesabi Trail by a spur trail in Eveleth that starts at 111 Station 44 Road. Parking is available at Mesabi Station’s lower-level lot. The Mesabi Trail Shuttle Service even offers rides for you and your gear between various points on the trail so you can explore easily. It runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from September 15 to May 31 and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from June 1 to September 15.
